Forest Cabin
Pitlochry
Scotland
2024- Design phase
The forest cabin project is located on Dunfallandy Hill two miles south of Pitlochry in the district of Perth and Kinross Scotland. Dunfallandy Hill was previously owned by the Forestry Commission who planted it with a variety of commercial tree species 35 years ago.
The Hill has been divided into six commercial plots which have now been sold. Our client owns one plot. The plot is 24 acres and adorned with Larch and Silver Birch which now need felling. Once these trees have been felled, a new crop of trees will be planted on site.
Our client wishes to construct a cabin from these felled trees so she has a base and a place to stay whilst managing the woodland and site.
The proposed cabin will accommodate a kitchen and living area on the ground floor with an open plan bedroom arrangement at first floor. The Larch planks will be scorched to provide a natural waterproofing and to blend into the Scottish landscape.
