Thirsk/Harrogate
2022- on site
The Forge is located in Thirsk, in the parish of Harrogate, North Yorkshire and is situated 12 meters west from the family home. The Forge stopped producing metal worked items in the 1960’s and has since fallen into disrepair and is in need of refurbishment. The clients bought the house and the Forge as they saw its potential. The house has since been modernised and now they wish to renovate the Forge. The Forge is a Victorian brick structure with a pitched roof and several large openings (Doors) It has two floors.
The project will connect both these buildings and make them work as a whole. A new glass link will accommodates the new family kitchen which will unite these buildings. The new kitchen with views out into the garden and landscape beyond will be the heart of this new family home. The Forge will be renovated to house a new living room accessed from the new kitchen with guest accommodation located on the first floor. Sliding glass doors will create a seamless link between the inside and outside space.
